Why this journal exists:
I migrated here from my Live Journal account after the big Facebook/Twitter Privacy Fail.
In this journal I will rant about my life, comment on current events, participate in the odd meme and point out any randomly interesting things I run across. Basically the same things everyone else does. Enjoy.

And now, a bit about me:
I graduated from the University of Bath with a BSc in Mathematics (2:2). I am working as a part-time Accounts Administrator in the West Midlands, and am looking for a full-time position closer to home.

I love to read. Absolutely love it. I will give up sleep to finish an exciting book and give up money for food in order to buy something that catches my eye. I always come away from second-hand book stalls loaded down with armfuls of books. Reading is the best thing in the world. Sci-fi and Fantasy are my favourite genres and my top two authors are Iain M. Banks and Terry Pratchett. But I'll read almost anything. I'm easy that way.

I also volunteer for Librivox, making Public Domain audiobooks available for free. I think what we do, preserving and expanding the store of human knowledge, is immeasurably valuable (as well as being enormously fun for me to participate in personally.) I regularly coordinate the Weekly Poetry and you can see my catalogue page, with all the recordings I've made so far, here.

While at Bath Uni I was a member of BUST (Bath University Student Theatre) and attended weekly workshops on various different aspects of theatre. I also directed a sell out production of Spider's Web by Agatha Christie. It was enormous fun. Now I regularly audition for parts in Bath Drama productions, as well as attending their monthly rehearsed readings. Most recently I played the part of Masha in Chekhov's Three Sisters. And of I course I visit the theatre regularly. The Mission Theatre and The Rondo put on some excellent productions.

I am currently Chair of BathLARP, a local LARP society. Basically we dress up in silly costumes, go out into the woods and hit each other on the head with rubber swords. It's brilliant.

One final thought:
Happy the man, and happy he alone,
He who can call today his own;
He who, secure within, can say,
Tomorrow, do thy worst, for I have lived today.

John Dryden
